The Facility

The Michael Cacoyannis Foundation (MCF) stands among Athens’ most vibrant cultural institutions, founded to support and promote theatre, cinema and the visual arts.

We invite filmmakers and artists working with moving image to submit their work.

Eligible submissions include:

– Short films (fiction, documentary, experimental)

– Video art & moving image works

– Animation and digital works

Both emerging and established artists are welcome to apply.

We are excited to announce the opportunity to present your work in the big screen!

Your work will be presented in a professional cinema auditorium with 121 seats, as part of an event taking place alongside a contemporary art exhibition within the premises of the Foundation.

Guidelines

Key Dates:

Event Dates: 17th April, 6-10pm (screening at the cinema auditorium)

Exhibition Dates: 18th to 23rd April, 6-10pm. After the opening event, your work will be on display daily in the exhibition space of the foundation.

The admission is free to the public at all times.

• There is no deadline to apply. We are currently booking artists for this project and once all spots have been filled, we will stop adding more participants. Due to a high volume of applications we receive, we would suggest that you get in touch and express your interest.

• The artists are not required to be present at the show, even though we would love to meet you in person. You can simply send your work to us and we can take care of everything else.

• The theme of the project is open and the artists can select their strongest artworks to show to our Curators and, of course, to our audience.

• All participants will be included in a campaign of promotion through our - and the foundation's -social media and newsletter in order to help them reach new audiences from around the world. â€‹

Fees, Commission, Sales

It is completely free for everyone to submit their application. If you get selected, then a small contribution of €100 will be required in order to cover the expenses of the project. Prior to that, you will receive an email asking you to confirm that you are still interested in participating, so submitting your application will not put you in a position that you will need to pay, if you change your mind.

We work as a collective so your contributions will not just help us keep being active, creative and productive but it will also allow us to offer working positions to other artists so they can work on projects related to their field of expertise.
